Fairfax Assembly

The Campus

The Town (now City) of Fairfax purchased 150 acres in 1958 and donated it to the University of Virginia for a permanent branch campus. In 1966, the General Assembly authorized the expansion of George Mason College into a four-year, degree-granting institution with the long-range mandate to expand into a major regional university.

Along with the George Mason University Administrative offices, the Fairfax campus contains such facilities as the George W. Johnson Center, the Center for the Arts complex, Patriot Center, a 113,900-square-foot Recreation Sports Complex, and a 66,000-square-foot Aquatic and Fitness Center. Message From the Fairfax Assembly

"I've had the honor and privilege of being the Director of Campus Relations for the Fairfax Assembly for the 2008 - 2009 academic year. While this was an exciting year as we worked together to get GAPSA off the ground we also laid the foundation for future projects. Some of the initiatives we would like to pursue further this year include better parking options and campus study spaces for graduate and professional students. With the support of assembly members, I also hope to generate further awareness and interest in participation in GAPSA - both socially and also for committee work."
