Biography and Candidate Statement

I am a doctoral candidate in Cultural Studies and instructor of record in the Women and Gender Studies and African/African American Studies departments. I attained a Master’s of Arts in Pan African Studies (with Distinction) from Syracuse University and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Cultural Studies from Columbia College Chicago (Magna Cum Laude). I feel that I would be a good candidate for the position of GAPSA President because I am very passionate about the college experience for marginalized students, I am equally passionate about graduate students’ relationship with the academy and the importance of graduate students to be as vocal and as visible as possible to bolster fruitful academic careers. Graduate students feel deeply about higher learning and as president I would do my best to protect those passions as well articulate them to the powers that be.

Will you be able to meet the time commitments and expectations of the position? Describe your probable availability for the 2022-2023 academic year, as well as other on-going time commitments (e.g., classes, work, organizational involvement).

Yes, as a doctoral candidate I am not longer in coursework so my time commitments academically are minimal.
