Biography and Candidate Statement
Hello, my name is Aijaz Ahmed Mohammed, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering. Like many of you, I am an active member of the GMU community, and I understand the challenges and opportunities that graduate students face. I am passionate about representing our diverse voices on the Fairfax Campus and advocating for practical solutions to improve student life. If elected as the Vice President of Fairfax, I will focus on establishing open communication channels that allow students to share their concerns and ideas. I plan to organize regular town halls and informal meet-ups to discuss issues, gather feedback, and work collaboratively with the GAPSA Executive Board to address student needs. My goal is to ensure that every student feels heard and supported, whether through improved access to resources, enhanced networking opportunities, or addressing day-to-day challenges on campus. I believe that “All Together Different” perfectly captures the spirit of our campus community. It means valuing our unique backgrounds while finding common ground to make positive changes. I am committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment where students can build meaningful connections and thrive. Availability and Commitment to the Time and Expectations of the Position
My confidence in my ability to meet the time commitments and expectations of the Vice President of Fairfax position is unwavering. I possess strong time management skills, enabling me to balance academic responsibilities with leadership roles effectively. For the 2025-2026 academic year, I plan to structure my schedule to prioritize both my responsibilities as Vice President and my other commitments. My current schedule is flexible enough to accommodate the duties required for this position, including attending meetings, organizing events, and actively engaging with the graduate community. I am committed to being accessible and proactive in representing the graduate students of the Fairfax Campus. I will not wait for issues to arise; instead, I will actively seek out opportunities to enhance the student experience. I will ensure that I allocate sufficient time to fulfill the demands of this role throughout the academic year.
