Additional Statement for Run-Off Election
I am deeply grateful for the incredible outpouring of support from the graduate and professional student community during the recent GAPSA election, where I earned 139 votes (39.83%) compared to my closest opponent’s 68 votes (19.48%) for the Vice President of Fairfax. This strong show of confidence is not just a number—it represents a shared hope for a more connected, responsive, and dynamic GAPSA. While the current bylaws, though imperfect, guide us into a runoff election decided by assembly members, I believe this is an opportunity for us to stand together and honor the spirit of student leadership. The students have spoken with clarity and enthusiasm, and now we have the chance to carry that momentum forward. I fully respect the process and value the role of the assembly in shaping our future. I humbly ask for your support in this final stage—to affirm the community’s voice and to help us move ahead with unity, energy, and purpose. Together, we can continue building a GAPSA that truly reflects the aspirations and strength of the students and professionals we represent. Let’s honor their trust, amplify their voices, and move forward with confidence.
Biography and Candidate Statement
Biography: For the past four years, Fairfax has been my home as I’ve pursued my graduate studies at George Mason University. During this time, I’ve deeply engaged with the graduate student community, notably serving as President and previously as Director of the Bangladeshi Graduate Students Association. In these roles, I successfully organized numerous large-scale events, including our annual picnic, comprehensive onboarding programs, and vibrant cultural activities, fostering a strong sense of community for over 100 students. My commitment to organizational excellence extends beyond my graduate studies. During my undergraduate years, I served as President of my department’s students’ club, CSEDUSC where we advocated for the students’ rights within the department, and organized numerous activities such as competitive programming, research presentations, and cultural activities. I co-founded the Dhaka University Science Club (DUSS) which fostered the interdisciplinary research culture among the students and the faculties. Furthermore, I was an active executive member of Community Action, advocating for individuals with special needs. My extensive volunteer experience and leadership roles demonstrate my ability to manage diverse groups and address community needs effectively.
