Sculpted Perspectives: Exploring Knowledge and Humanity through Art
4:45 PM – 5:30 PM | Merten Hall, Room 1201
GAPSA is privileged to present “Creative Connections,” a pop-up art exhibit, during the conference’s closing reception. Serving as a platform for interdisciplinary discussions on complex issues, we aim to foster creative connections through art, bridging different disciplines and ideas with a fresh perspective. Our collaborators include the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School of Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mason Exhibitions, and artist Abdulrahman Naanseh. The Peace Art Project winner’s artwork, hosted by the Carter School, serves as a poignant expression of peace through art, providing a platform for reflection and dialogue on themes of conflict resolution [1], harmony, and social justice. Mason Exhibitions partners with us to present Stella Waitzkin’s book sculptures from the Mason Art Collections, showcasing the intersection of physical and spiritual wisdom embodied in books [2 – 4]. Additionally, Abdulrahman Naanseh, a Syrian Arabic Calligraphy artist and adjunct faculty at Mason’s School of Art, passionately explores the abstraction of thoughts and emotions through captivating symbols, blending traditional techniques with contemporary expressions [5]. Join us as we explore knowledge and humanity through art, where creativity, dialogue, and reflection intertwine to inspire transformative insights and connections.
